Fogging & Covid-19

There can be no doubt that Novel Coronavirus (Covid19) that has spread around the world from its source in Wuhan, China has impacted all of our lives. Six months since early news of the outbreak no-one can be sure that we are past the worst, whether there will be a ‘second wave’ or like the Spanish Flu of 1918 whether Covid-19 will be with us for years to come.

There are however some things we do know for certain;
  • 1) Covid-19 can be contracted in droplet form from the air or from surface contact.
  • 2) Covid-19 is known to survive on surfaces for up to 17 days (source – Diamond Princess report).
  • 3) The viral load (the number of viruses a person is exposed too) is a factor in determining the seriousness of the illness.
  • 4) Ultra-Violet light kills the virus (the primary reason that cases may reduce during summer months but also the reason they may increase from October).
  • 5) Certain disinfectants such as Sodium Hypochlorite (bleach) and Quat’s (Vanoquat) kill the virus in seconds.
  • 6) The Chinese authorities undertook City wide Fogging in Wuhan as part of their (successful) effort to defeat the virus.
  • 7) WE HAVE TO UNDERTAKE MEASURES TO GET BACK TO WORK, EDUCATION AND ULTIMATELY, NORMAL LIFE!

Fogging Facts

  • 1) Fogging is a time-based process rather than a skill. What this means is that even the least motivated operator will be 99.99% effective compared to a cleaning operative undertaking conventional cleaning/disinfection by hand.
  • 2) Thermal Fogging is quick! A coach or bus can be completely decontaminated in just 2 minutes, a 24,000 square foot factory in just 20 minutes.
  • 3) Even in a heavily contaminated space the operator is protected from Covid-19 by the process itself.
  • 4) 4) When space has been fully fogged, as well as the airspace, every surface top and bottom, vertical, angled, horizontal and recessed, hard or soft furnished will have been treated and will be decontaminated against both viruses and bacteria.
  • 5) Certain disinfectants such as Sodium Hypochlorite (bleach) and Quat’s (Vanoquat) kill the virus in seconds.
